CHRISTMAS IN EVERY FILIPINOS HEART.
Christmas is once a yearly event but for us, Filipino when ber month starts the spirit of Christmas also starts. Children may say that Christmas is for Santa Claus and that is wrong. The Christmas season is the celebration of the upcoming birthday of Christ Jesus which is December 25. To us catholic, there is a simbang gabi which is a nine days series of mass that people are attending before the birthday of Jesus.
Christmas is the happiest season of the year because everyone is surrounded by loved ones and there is an air of joy. Many people have distinct associations with Christmas. There is nothing wrong with carrying out these Christmas customs; nevertheless, for
some, the emphasis is on gift-giving, meal preparation, tree-decorating, house-cleaning, parties to attend, and the list goes on. Christmas is the season of giving and love. The season when everyone is excited because this season means family gatherings to them. To celebrate the day, Christmas carols are broadcast on radio and television. Most families start by attending church, where they sing Christmas songs after the mass is done. Later, they get together with their families to celebrate with food and music while exchanging gifts. Christmas during the pandemic is quieter than usual but we Filipinos didn't hesitate to celebrate it not unlike other countries that let the pandemic ruin their essence of Christmas.
Christmas serves as a reminder of the value of sharing and giving with friends and family. We understand through Christmas that the birth of Jesus marks the start of great things to come. Typically, it is a chance to reflect on nature and the reason for our existence. Despite being a Christian holiday, Christmas is one of those occasions that is celebrated by people of all faiths and religions worldwide. The heart of this celebration is what brings people together so strongly.
